Infant Aquatics Program
Developmentally appropriate to provide babies ages 6 months through toddlers with a safe and fun introduction to the world of water. Parents work directly with their child under a trained instructor’s guidance. Skills taught include holding positions, water adjustment, front kick, back float, arm movement, entry and exit of the pool and basic safety skills.
Preschool Program
Swimming and safety skills are developed in a creative and fun environment with the child’s comfort, confidence, and enjoyment in mind.
Level 1
Designed to introduce young children to the pool and teach fundamental swimming and safety skills. This class is designed for children who are not comfortable with their faces in the water or with little experience in the pool.
Level 2
Designed to help children become more at ease in the water and to introduce swimming and safety skills. This class is designed for children who are comfortable with their faces in the water.
Level 3
Designed to build upon swimming basics, safety and flotation skills. Students learn the fundamentals of the front crawl, back crawl, and treading water.
Level 4
Designed to develop confidence and competency in basic swimming and safety skills. Students build techniques and endurance in the front crawl, back crawl, and the elementary backstroke. They are also introduced to the fundamentals of the sidestroke and breaststroke.
Level 5
Designed to coordinate and improve the strokes learned in previous levels. The butterfly stroke and feet-first surface dive are also introduced. Students must be able to swim 50 yards of the front crawl and backstroke.
Level 6 & 7
Designed to improve technique and develop strength in strokes, turns, and starts presented in previous levels. Students will learn to swim with ease, efficiency, and power. Students will be encouraged to adopt good lifetime fitness habits. Students must be able to swim 100 yards in each stroke.
Adults
This class is designed for beginner and intermediate level adults who want to learn to swim. Skills include an introduction to the 5 basic strokes. This program will assist adults in enjoying swimming as a recreational and fitness activity. The adult program is an ideal class for anyone looking to gain more confidence in the water or just improve their form.
